Kindergarten Islamic Studies Curriculum

Assalamu alaikum,

Although this blog is intended for Muslim children from birth to 3/4, many of the activities and crafts on this blog can be used for children as old as 5 or 6 years insha'Allah. So, I'm considering whether or not to begin posting materials for children as old as 5/6. What do you think? Would that be useful for you insha'Allah (or others you know)? It might take me some time to begin this as I've been neglecting my website lately and would like to get back to posting resources for children from grades 4 and up there insha'Allah. But as for posting materials for ages 5 and 6 here, I'll make a decision based on the feedback I receive (or if I don't receive any that will pretty much decide the issue...*smile*).

Even if the blog remains for children from birth to 3/4, I wanted to share this curriculum find with you insha'Allah. This is an Islamic Studies curriculum for Kindergarten that was developed by the sister (and two other teachers - both of whom teach Islamic Studies) who owned the site (sadly, it is not online anymore). She has given permission for me to make this curriculum available on 'A Muslim Child is Born' alhamdulillah. Quite comprehensive but you know your child so take what you can use and come back to the other strands as you see fit insha'Allah. Or if you know someone who has a kindergartner, please feel free to pass this link along insha'Allah.

I hope you find this beneficial insha'Allah. Enjoy insha'Allah!

  13. Waalaikum assalam wa rahmatullaah

Jazakillaahu khayr sis Lamya. Insha'Allaah, several links will be provided to assist you in your new homeschool year. Please check back in 1-2 days insha'Allaah.

  14. Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah

    Sis Lamya,

If possible can you be a bit more specific about the materials you are trying to locate. As for lesson plans that are free: this is alhamdulillaah very abundant and easy to find on the internet. If you Google, "free lesson plans", you will get back a plethora of sites that offer free lesson plans. For free worksheets, the same applies. If, for example, you Google "free Kindergarten worksheets" you will have many many sites that offer free worksheets.

It will take you some time to plow through them *smile* to find exactly what you are looking for and it is not really easy to point you in one direction or another b/c your province/state curriculum requirements have to be kept in mind.

If you intend to homeschool - may Allaah make it easy for you - also keep in mind the reporting laws for your area (i.e. are you required to let the School Board know that you intend to homeschool, do you have to show them the curriculum that you will use, do you have to show them report cards that you keep, testing, etc.

Initially, it can seem overwhelming but insha'Allaah, once you see what you need to do to get started, it will settle and not seem to be so much biithnillaah.

You also may wish to contact your local school board or visit their website as many districts have their curriculum online that you can download for free. This may help you see what direction you may want to take.

I hope this has been helpful dear sis.

    Jazakillaahu Khayr
