Arabic Letters Handwriting Workbook in French?

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Maybe insha'Allaah....if one of our French speaking sisters would be very kind and review this file, identify the errors, and supply the corrections, a French version will be added to the original post insha'Allaah.

Unfortunately, this cannot be done for other languages due to the fact that it is time consuming BUT....(ears perked up sah...*smile*).....the first person to leave a comment indicating that they are willing to send me the translated text (including those pesky Terms of Use) for the language they would like the book in, will have the book in that language added to the original post insha'Allaah.

Conditions:

  1. The translated text must be sent to me within one week or the next comment in line will be chosen.
  2. Translated text must be sent either in the body of the email or in a MS Word file.
*Remember: comments are moderated but blogger keeps them in order alhamdulillaah so do not worry if you do not see your comment appear right away.*

Ready....set....GO! (Comment has been received alhamdulillaah)

*Sis Umm Lynah, jazakillaahu khayr for your comment. Please send the Dutch text to me using the 'Contact Me' button on the right hand side of the page. Insha'Allaah, the book in Dutch will be added to this post in about 1 week.*

Quraan Centre Word Work: Surah Al-Ma'un Activities & Workbook

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Alhamdulillaah, this is the word work for surah Al-Ma'un:

This word work pack marks the beginning of students moving forward to begin learning to identify the Arabic letters in their different forms (i.e. in isolation, beginning, middle and end).

The workbook maintains the same familiar format but the focus of the word work pack itself is on the letter ya and how it is written in isolation, in the beginning of a word, in the middle of a word and at the end of a word.

The activities in this word work book are (by page number):

- Pages 7-8: A site word board game for the surah - you can use a spinner and child safe game pieces of your choice for this game. Children can spin the spinner and when they land on a word, if they can read it, they stay on that space, if not, they do not move from their current place on the board. Play continues in this way until a child reaches the word finish. This game would be played at the end of the word work unit so that students have had sufficient exposure to all of the words in the surah insha'Allaah.

- Page 9: Making words - the teacher/parent-teacher cuts the words cards in two and the students must rematch the cards to make the correct words from the surah.

- Page 10: A Worksheet that helps students with visual discrimination. They must select the word that does not belong in each group.

- Pages 11 - 13: Word work mats that children can either use with Play-Doe, colour, paint, etc. This activity is a fine motor skill activity to help students prepare for learning to write or to practice and improve writing skills insha'Allaah.

- Pages 14 -15: Templates for sandpaper letters for the letter ya in its different positions. (Yemeni Links.com has sandpaper templates for all of the Arabic alphabet as they appear in isolation masha'Allaah. I made these specifically for this letter focus).

- Pages 16 - 18: Children sort words from the surah based on where the letter ya is at in the word (i.e. beginning, middle or end) and there is also a memory game with words from the surah that have ya in its different positions.

- Pages 19-20: Children have the word hunt (all words have the letter ya in its different forms) and also words to sort. For this word sort activity, you will use the same sorting mat found in the previous word work packets insha'Allaah. You can download a mat from this word work pack insha'Allaah.

- Page 21-24: Selected words from the surah that have the letter ya in its different forms. These words can be used on bulletin boards, word walls, or as flashcards.

Insha'Allaah, your students/children benefit and enjoy this. Before downloading this file, please take a moment to read the terms of use (if you haven't already done so) for this and all resources on A Muslim Child is born. Jazakum Allaahu Khayr.  The file is available for download here insha'allaah.

Enjoy insha'Allaah!

Quraan Centre Word Work: Surah Al-Kawthar Activities & Workbook

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Alhamdulillaah, this is the word work for surah Al-Kawthar:

In this packet children go on a word hunt for post-it notes that have words from this surah on them. They also continue identifying letters in isolation, work on their handwriting and sort words from the surah. Also included in this pack are three boards that have three different words from the surah on them. These boards can be laminated and used for fine motor skill work with Play-Doe, or students can use dry-erase markers to colour them in, erase and colour again. Children have their workbook where they identify words from each ayah in the surah and more!

Insha'Allaah, your students/children benefit and enjoy this. Please note that all material on A Muslim Child is Born is copyrighted by Umm An-Nu'man unless otherwise noted. Qur'aan Centre Work: Surah An-Nas Workbook & Worksheets

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

This is the students mini-workbook and worksheets that accompany the word work for Surah An-Nas:

On each page in the mini-workbook children have a single ayah from surah An-Nas. Under the ayah in a blue box they see one of the words from that ayah. Using a highlighter, in the ayah, they highlight the word that they see in the blue box.

Here is a sample from a student's mini book for Surah Al-Fatiha

Students also work with shadow matching words from two ayaat from the surah. The next worksheet (on the bottom right) is for children to not only shadow match the words from the ayaat but when they have completed that task, they cut the ayaat apart on the lines and mix them up and rearrange them in the correct order insha'Allaah. Teachers/Parents may wish to put numbers on the back of each strip so the child can self-correct by turning each slip of paper over to make sure they are in the correct numerical order insha'Allaah.

Lastly, children have a visual worksheet puzzle that invites them to try to locate all of times they see the title of the Surah (i.e. the word An-Nas). Teachers can have students record their responses on a small response sheet (with their names written on it) and place them into a sealed jar/can and when all of the students have submitted their responses, the teacher can invite a student to randomly select one of the slips from the jar/can. If the response on the slip of paper is correct, the teacher can reward the student in a way she feels is appropriate (i.e. a book, a bookmark, etc.). If the response that was drawn was incorrect, the teacher or selected student draws again.

Enjoy insha'Allaah!

In the House (Things found in the house labeled in Arabic)

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Some families are studying homes and what is found inside of them. As I was going through some files, I came across this and thought perhaps you could use it insha'Allaah.

If you'd like, I can make cards or a memory game to go along with this poster insha'Allaah. Please leave a comment if you would like for me to do that insha'Allaah. If you would like tashkeel on the cards please also mention that too insha'Allaah.

Enjoy insha'Allaah!

Another Arabic Animal Activity: Fish

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Here is another activity to go with the 'Animals in Arabic' activities from this post.  At present, we are not studying animals but since the PDF file looked fuzzy, I printed it to be sure it would print alright...alhamdulillah it does. And the activity was really enjoyed here alhamdulillah...*smile*. We even had a chance to use the bulletin board made from recycled materials from this post alhamdulillah!

Children are invited to correctly place the fish in the bowl according to their colour. Inside of the fish bowl each fish's colour is written in Arabic. Children have to glue the fish in the correct space.

Here is the worksheet (it has Arabic, English and Transliteration) before we did the activity.

Enjoy insha'Allaah!

Spring Flower Arabic Colours Matching Game

Assalamu alaikum,

We have seen some stunning flowers lately alhamdulillah. Just beautiful, vibrant colours that Allah has placed in His creation. To compliment what we have been seeing, I made an Arabic colour matching game using painted wooden flowers and popsicle sticks for the stems.

I painted wooden flower pieces different colours. All of the flowers are the same type to allow the child to focus on colour instead of variation in flower designs. Then I took popsicle sticks and wrote the names of the colours in Arabic on one side. On the back of each stick I painted the corresponding colours of the flowers (this is the control of error in the game, more on that further down insha'Allah) - one stick to match each flower.

The flowers in the bottom right hand corner are gold, silver and yellow but due to the lighting you can't tell.

To play, all of the flowers are laid out. The popsicle sticks are then placed on the table with the colour sides facing down. The child will see only the colour word written in Arabic. The child is then invited to match the 'stem' with the correct flower.

For older children, place the sticks word side up. Invite the child to read the colour name (or you can read it for them insha'Allah) and then invite them to find the corresponding flower to match. The child can check their answers by simply turning the stick over to see if the colour on the opposite side of the stick matches the flower they matched it with (Control of Error).

For younger toddlers, you can simply have them match the coloured sticks to the correct stick and tell them the name of the colour in Arabic.

You can use cut out flowers from magazine or you can make flowers from construction paper to play this game. Your stems can be made from cardboard, construction paper or whatever is handy and will work insha'Allah.

Enjoy insha'Allah!

Food Theme: Guest Post

Assalamu aliakum,

Alhamduillah, Umm Maimoonah has a treat for us once again! She documented her daughter's learning the fruits in Arabic from this post. Jazakillahu Khayr sis Umm Maimoonah for agreeing to once again share Maimoonah's learning adventure.

Enjoy insha'Allah!

Alhamdulillaah for Food!
by guest blogger: Umm Maimoonah

Alhamdulillaah, we had great fun doing this theme Masha Allaah, and sis Umm Nu’man invited me to share our experience once again. So here we go…

We began by reading the book “Eating and Drinking” by Daarul Kitaab.

I explained to her that we need food to get strong so that we can worship Allaah and I reminded her that Allaah has created us only to worship Him alone. This book has the etiquettes of eating and drinking and masha'Allaah, she already knew the duas and was familiar with the contents of the book as we read this very often.

Then we read a little more about food in the encyclopedia and learnt that food consists of nutrients. We wrote the 6 kinds of nutrients on our white board so that we remember throughout the lesson Insha'Allaah. She learnt this so soon Masha'Allaah!

Then we made the Qaamoos and she started colouring the pictures and pasted and made the Colour and Learn Book.

And this is how the books look Masha'Allaah. We read and she learnt all the Arabic terms too.

Now it was time to have fun with real food! I taught her how to lay the table and here she goes…

The next day she did this on her own Masha'Allaah!

Then she started matching the real food ! While doing this I mentioned the nutrients found in each food item. And now whenever she eats she asks what do you get in this food?

After matching she wanted to go shopping to buy food and she did her pretend play by putting the fruits and vegetables into a bag at the supermarket! Lol!

She liked matching real food and was not interested in the matching activity so I thought of something else and made a small environmental studies book and we began with the theme “Food”. This way, I thought each theme we will do something so that she can refer back altogether at the same time and this will be a good revision Insha'Allaah. This is what I did!

I took a botany exercise book and pasted the matching activity materials on to the book . We divided the food items according to the nutrients and pasted theme on each page. I introduced sight words to her and she tries to read Masha'Allaah, so I included matching activities too. When she learns the words she can match them with the pictures Insha'Allaah. Then we read the book. As we read she started running to the table to bring real food to match with the pictures again.. She loves this book and keeps reading it all the time Masha'Allaah. This is how it looks and you can see her in action!

Finally, we thought we would do something yummy! We made a chocolate biscuit pudding! For those of you who want to try it out here is the recipe Insha'Allaah!

Icing sugar 500g

cocoa powder 60-70 g

Butter (the regular size anchor butter, not the small one)

4 eggs

4-5 packets of marie biscuits

Cashew nuts

Milk (to soak biscuits)

Vanilla to taste.

Beat the egg whites separately until fluffy. Set aside.

Beat the butter, egg yolks, cocoa powder and icing sugar in another bowl (add sugar little by little).

Fold it with the beaten egg whites.

Add vanilla and mix.

Arrange the milk soaked biscuits and then a layer of pudding, biscuits again and then pudding, make as many layers as you like. Chop the cashew nuts very finely and you can put it in every layer with pudding, or just on the top for decoration and you can also add chocolate syrup.

That’s it! Enjoy! I'd love to read your comments... :)

Alhamdulillaah, once again we had a joyful learning session throughout the week and may Allaah reward sis Umm Nu’man for all her hard work. Hope you enjoyed this long post (smile) !

Until next time Assalaamu Alaikum!

Umm Maimoonah
