Yet another use for egg cartons: Work trays. They hold just the right amount of items for little hands to easily explore. This one was used as a work tray for exploring items found in nature.
Inside, I placed sea shells, a walnut (too big for infants/toddlers to swallow insha'Allah), tiny pine cones, and a rock collected on a recent nature walk.
This is a close-up of the activity
To make this, all that was done was cutting the top part of an empty egg carton off. Glue blank index cards inside of the top to cover the writing so the child will not be distracted by it and place the items in the "tray". All done!
Alhamdulillah, it was enjoyed so much this week that I have not removed it from the work table yet.
Enjoy insha'Allah!
Very nice. I was thinking that maybe you could put some dirt on it and hide some 'treasures' inside and ask the children to look for them. =)
ReplyDeleteWassalam.
mashaAllah, I want to try this!
ReplyDeleteAssalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
ReplyDeleteRukhpar Mor,
Oh that is a nice idea but just need to figure out a way to close the two holes in the back of the top so the dirt does not leak out. I am thinking maybe I'll put sand (oh maybe even coloured sand) in place of dirt. Jazakillahu khayr for the great idea!
Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah,
ReplyDeleteOh sis Eva that might fit in with your new science centre. I like it by the way (smile).
You can put seeds, rocks, leaves, and other things you find in gardens in your tray insha'Allah. Hmm...I think I need to take another nature walk...in the garden!...lol.
