Assalamu aliakum,
This is the fourth seasons craft activity insha'Allah.
I read somewhere on the net (I can't remember where) that someone used Mod Podge to preserve leaves. Well, I didn't want to do that but it gave me the idea to make a collage using leaves because the Mod Podge works so well at providing a nice shimmery coat to things. This is the result: a Fall leaf collage.
This is the Arabic text describing what happens in the Fall by the Permission of Allah
What you will need insha'Allah:
* Cardboard
* Used, clean piece of aluminum foil
* Leaves in different colours
* Sponge brush
* Tape
* Pipe Cleaner
* Packing Tape
How to make the Fall Leaf Collage insha'Allah:
1). Collect a nice amount of leaves, depending on the size of your cardboard insha'Allah. Make sure the leaves are not already dry and brittle (they will not stay glued onto the foil as easily).
2). Cut your piece of cardboard to the desired size using an Xacto knife or scissors.
3). Cover the cardboard with a used, clean piece of aluminum foil. Tape it down in the back with strong tape.
4). Using the Mod Podge and the sponge brush, cover both sides of the leaf with Mod Podge. You may need to be generous with the amount you use depending on the size of your leaf.
5). Place the leaf onto the aluminum foil any place you'd like insha'Allah.
6). Continue doing this until all leaves are glued onto the foil or until you are satisfied.
7). Allow the Mod Podge to dry overnight insha'Allah. *If you do this craft in the evening, there is a good chance that the Mod Podge will not be completley dry in the morning.*
8). Apply a second coating of Mod Podge if you wish and allow to dry overnight again.
9). Use a pipe cleaner to make a hook to hang your Fall Leaf Collage on the wall insha'Allah.
** I used the Fall Arabic text from the Seasons Lift the Flap Book to place under the collage on the wall to describe what the collage is about. You know, kind of like they do in the museum. This, of course, is optional.**
Enjoy insha'Allah!
As Salaamu Alaykum
ReplyDeleteSuch a great job masha Allah. It looks absolutely lovely! A nice hanging for the wall inside or welcoming outside of the door insha Allah
waalaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
ReplyDeletejazakillahu khayr dear sis. I like ur idea for the door. And you know what? I forgot to mention to use newspaper when making this with the little ones insha'Allah. Eehhh...
salaam aalikum uhkti
ReplyDeleteI also heard if you iron the leaves between 2 pieces of partchment paper (wax paper?) it will pererve them as well. I think this may work for flowers too inshaAllah....
waalaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
ReplyDeleteJazakillahu khayr dear sister Umm Muhammad wa Fatemah. I'll have to try that insha'Allah. We've got some extra leaves left over from the collage and I think I've got some parchment paper too. I think parchment paper is a bit different from wax paper but I'm not sure. I wonder if both would work insha'Allah?
